Retired U.S. Marine Corps Captain Now Earning Stripes As Multi-Unit Franchisee

When Dave Adams retired from the military after nearly a decade of service, he went looking for a business opportunity that would fit his skill set. Like many retired military veterans, he found a career in franchising.

A franchising consultant helped lead Adams to American Family Care (AFC). The franchise brand is a leading provider of urgent care, occupational medicine, and accessible primary care. Adams opened his first location in 2012 in Waltham, Massachusetts. Today the 44-year-old owns 3 other locations in the Boston area, and operates 2 additional locations for a fellow franchisee.

Adams says he chose AFC because he has a general management and operational background with his military training and he wanted a business that would allow him to use his experience and skills to help people and their communities. He says his skills and the support of the AFC brand have helped him grow substantially in a very short time, despite heavy competition and in an increasingly crowded market.

"The landscapes of healthcare and health insurance are constantly changing, you can't beat the foundation AFC provides to its franchisees, this company is backed by urgent care experts of the highest degree with decades of experience," says Adams.

Adams is an active operator and says he's in his clinics daily. He's also busy executing his growth plans which call for continued organic development and potential acquisition opportunities on the horizon.

AFC now has more than 200 clinics and 600 in-network physicians caring for nearly 3 million patients a year.
