Zaxby's Opens Second St. Augustine, Florida Location
Local licensee opens fifth Zaxby's restaurant with plans for more
October 23, 2019 // Franchising.com // ATHENS, Ga. - The newest Zaxby’s in St. Augustine, Florida is coming to 120 Harvest Lane in November. A fan favorite for chicken fingers, wings and salads, the new fast-casual restaurant is owned and operated by long-time Zaxby’s licensee Matt Strickland, who also opened Florida’s first Zaxby’s in Fernandina Beach. Construction on the St. Augustine Zaxby’s began in May.
“St. Augustine has been my home for over 20 years and I look forward to growing the Zaxby’s brand here,” Strickland said. “The new Zaxby’s will be a great addition to the community. This particular location is convenient for travelers and also near the city.”
With indoor seating for 72, the 3,300 square-foot modified farmhouse-style restaurant is built for speed of service. The layout supports Zaxby’s commitment to providing an exceptional fast-casual dining experience including a redesigned kitchen and dining area with two proprietary Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. The restaurant features rustic décor for a welcoming ambience. Customers can order online via zaxbys.com and catering will also be available.
An alternative to fast food, Zaxby’s serves fresh, prepared-at-order, hand-breaded Chicken Fingerz and Wings made in a variety of nine sauces. The menu also features four Zalads and eight sandwiches along with innovative Zappetizers including Tater Chips and Spicy Fried Mushrooms, and Party Platterz for large groups. As part of Zaxby’s promotional partnership with Sony Pictures for “Jumanji: The Next Level,” which hits theaters Dec. 13, Zaxby’s is offering Southwest Chipotle Fillet and Smokehouse Cheddar BBQ Fillet Sandwiches until Dec. 29. Both items pair perfectly with Jumanji Citrus Fizz, also available in Lite, while supplies last.
“We can’t wait to grow our involvement in this part of the community,” Strickland said. “At our locations, we are proud to give back to local schools and organizations. We invite St. Augustine to join us in opening this new restaurant and to enjoy our signature chicken in a variety of combinations.”
This restaurant will provide about 50 new jobs in the St. Augustine community. Those interested in applying for a position may visit snagajob.com, Facebook or the licensee’s other St. Augustine location at 1107 Ponce de Leon Blvd.
In addition to his two St. Augustine locations, Strickland’s other restaurants are located in Melbourne, Palatka and Waycross, Georgia. He has plans for additional locations in the future.
Enjoying great chicken in an atmosphere where you can be yourself? That’s what childhood friends Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley wanted to achieve when they founded Zaxby’s back in the 1990s. Many years and locations later, Zaxby’s is still delivering on that promise: to serve delicious chicken fingers, wings, sandwiches and salads in a fun, offbeat atmosphere where customers are considered friends. Zaxby’s has grown to more than 900 locations in 17 states and is headquartered in Athens, Georgia. For more information, visit zaxbys.com.
