$1 Billion and Counting: Orangetheory Fitness Reaches Sales Milestone
BOCA RATON, Fla. - Feb. 4, 2019 // PRNewswire // - Just eight years after opening its first studio in 2010, Orangetheory Fitness crossed a threshold few companies ever manage to reach: exceeding $1 billion in systemwide revenues for 2018.
The leader in heart-rate interval training and one of the world's fastest-growing fitness franchise brands reached the billion-dollar mark in systemwide sales in 2018, thanks to a loyal and growing member base and continued rapid studio expansion. As of today, Orangetheory Fitness operates more than 1,100 studios in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Poland, New Zealand, Germany, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Israel, Peru and Chile, among others. The company has another 500+ studios in its development pipeline.
Orangetheory Fitness co-founder Ellen Latham, who designed the company's well-known interval training fitness regimen, cited the company's dedicated and supportive employees, franchisees and - especially - its loyal members for its monumental growth.
"We opened our first studio in 2010 with one purpose in mind - to blaze our own trail with a workout that would help people live a longer, more vibrant life," she said. "I'm so grateful that our members have embraced that approach, which is designed to bring the heart-rate into those key zones that allow members to push themselves harder and reach new goals in the studio."
Dave Long, Orangetheory Fitness co-founder and CEO, said: "By taking heart-rate interval training to a new level of performance, we have been able to take our business to new heights as well. As our growth rate continues to skyrocket, we believe we will reach our aggressive goal of operating 2,500 studios - serving 2.5 million members, worldwide - within the next 5 years."
The key to the remarkable growth of Orangetheory Fitness is that the company's unique trifecta of science, coaching and technology combine to generate more energy, more drive and more health for its members. Each Orangetheory class, taught by highly-trained coaches, is an hour-long, science-backed, technology-tracked, full-body workout that helps members elevate their heart rate to the "Orange Zone," which is 84-91 percent of their maximum heart rate.
Each Orangetheory studio has treadmills, water rowing machines, mini bands and TRX® suspension unit systems and plenty of free weights and benches. Coaches conduct personalized group sessions designed for 24 participants at a time, an approach complemented by technology advancements. Through its game-changing technology, Orangetheory advances its mission by giving members even better tools to capture performance data, measure their overall workout results and set new goals.
And this popular model has proven to be extremely effective. The average Orangetheory Fitness studio now hosts more than 5,000 workouts per month. This has propelled the company to #25 on the 2019 Franchise 500 list from Entrepreneur magazine.
